Privacy Policy

1. Scope and operator

Trailasaur LLC ("Trailasaur," "we," "us") operates DinoNews. This policy applies to DinoNews content and features provided through trailasaur.com/DinoNews and the DinoNews app.

DinoNews currently does not require an account or login and does not offer purchases or subscriptions. We therefore do not intentionally collect a name, email address, username, password, or profile information through account registration. DinoNews does not access health or fitness data, contacts, your photo library, or your microphone, and it does not provide a user-generated-content workflow.

2. Information DinoNews processes

Product interaction and usage data

Analytics may record pages or articles viewed, navigation, feature interactions, engagement with content, general session information, browser type, device type, and diagnostic information. DinoNews uses this information to understand how the publication is used, improve its content and features, and identify technical problems.

Device and browser identifiers

Analytics systems may use cookies, browser or device-level identifiers, and similar storage to distinguish browsers, devices, or sessions. Because DinoNews has no account system, it does not send an account-based user ID to Google Analytics.

Approximate location

Analytics providers may derive approximate geographic information, such as country, region, or city, from technical information including an IP address. We use this information to understand DinoNews usage at a general geographic level.

Precise location you choose to provide

DinoNews requests device location only after you select a location-based feature such as “Use My Location.” It uses the resulting coordinates to find museums and other relevant paleo places near you. The coordinates are sent to the location and knowledge services described below to perform that search.

DinoNews does not continuously track precise location in the background and does not collect precise location for advertising. You can decline location permission and continue to use the rest of DinoNews. You can also withdraw location permission in your browser or device settings.

3. Google Analytics

The DinoNews website and DinoNews content displayed in the app use Google Analytics 4. On the production website, Google Analytics receives a page URL and title along with limited, product-specific events such as article views, article selections, reading depth, engaged time, source-link clicks, related-content clicks, shares, and navigation between site areas. The implementation removes known sensitive query parameters before sending page URLs.

Google Analytics may process IP-derived approximate location, browser and device information, cookies or similar identifiers, and interaction data. DinoNews does not use Google Analytics User-ID because DinoNews has no accounts. The repository does not enable Google Signals or advertising personalization in code; settings controlled within Google may not be visible in the DinoNews source code. DinoNews uses this analytics data to measure and improve the product, not to serve targeted advertising.

4. Location and third-party services

When you use nearby-place features, DinoNews may transmit location coordinates or a location search you enter to:

• OpenStreetMap services, including Nominatim and Overpass, to resolve a place search and find relevant nearby locations.
• Wikidata, to find and cross-check museums, fossil sites, geoparks, and other relevant places near the selected location.

These providers also receive ordinary network information, such as an IP address, when your device contacts them. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies. If you choose an external map, directions, source, video, or other outbound link, the destination service receives information associated with that request under its own privacy terms.

5. Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies or use similar browser or app-WebView storage to distinguish sessions and devices. You can limit cookies through browser controls, although those controls may affect analytics or some site behavior. DinoNews does not currently use IndexedDB or session storage for its publication features. The shared site analytics code uses local storage only for purchase-event deduplication on Trailasaur’s separate shop; DinoNews has no purchase flow.

6. Sharing and sale of information

We may transmit information to service providers when necessary to operate analytics and the location features described above. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect users or the public, or to protect the rights and security of DinoNews and Trailasaur LLC.

Trailasaur LLC does not sell personal information collected through DinoNews.

7. Retention and international processing

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including product operation, security, legal compliance, and resolving disputes. Third-party analytics and location providers may process or retain information according to their own policies. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where those providers operate, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information. No method of Internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children’s privacy

DinoNews is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through DinoNews, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or contact your local data-protection authority. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.

DinoNews has no account to delete. To submit a privacy request, email [email protected]. We may need information sufficient to understand and verify the request.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as DinoNews or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update its effective date.
